Let’s face it—no one likes paperwork. But getting your visas sorted is part of the adventure! If you’re joining a Baktrax small group tour, you’ll breeze through borders with ease. Here’s your updated, fuss-free guide to Southeast Asia visa requirements for 2025, covering Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia.
Thailand
Most travelers—including Australians, Brits, Kiwis, Canadians, and EU citizens—can enter visa-free for up to 30 days if arriving by air, or 15 days if arriving overland. Extensions are available in-country for a fee if you fall in love and want to stay longer. Bring proof of onward travel and a passport with at least 6 months’ validity.
Vietnam
Visa rules have become much friendlier! Many nationalities can now enter visa-free for 15–45 days (depending on your passport) or apply for an e-visa online (usually valid for 30 days, single or multiple entry). Be sure to check your eligibility and apply in advance for e-visas to avoid airport surprises.
Laos
A visa on arrival is available for most visitors at major airports and border crossings, typically for 30 days. Bring a passport photo and USD cash for the fee (prices can vary by nationality). E-visa options are now available for select entry points, making it even easier.
Cambodia
Visas on arrival are standard for most tourists at airports and many land borders (30-day validity). Or, apply online for an e-visa. Have a passport photo ready, and bring US dollars for the visa fee. Extensions are possible for longer stays.
Malaysia
Good news! Citizens from most Western countries (including Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the EU, and Canada) don’t need a visa for tourist stays up to 90 days. Just make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months, and you have proof of onward travel.
